When you start up your own business, you should consider carefully about a bunch of things that may have never crossed your mind in the past. To begin with, you must know exactly the amount of money you are willing to spend and be aware of the funds you have to loan during the first “tough” years. Apart from that, what about the employees? Are there any capable of them around? That is to say, are there any relatives or friends to trust so as to be sure you make a head start? If not, you had better start collecting CVs sooner than later so as to spot their right candidate in time. Most importantly though you have to put your finger on what your position will be in the firm. You may be thinking now “What are you talking about? I am the boss!”. Well, things are not always that simple as between black and white there are dozens of grey shades.
BE THE BOSS
If you feel like that, then occupy the post of the CEO or that of the manager. Make no mistake though-you have to play your role as honestly, fairly and effectively as you can. In other words, you must make sure that everyone in the company is paid according to their skills and devotion. If you do not spend enough time on supervising your staff, you will not only let huge mistakes and omissions take place. You will also not be aware of the amount of time someone spends working for you and mainly how qualitative is that time. So, when you receive the first outcomes and the first balances, news will not fascinating.
To make matters worse, some people love working nine to five. They just adore it. It suits their character and routine perfectly and that is how they are planning to end their career upon retiring. Nevertheless, if you are about to get the post of the administrator or the director, you had better forget about that…now! The chief executive, in fact you, has to be the first to arrive and the last to leave the company. You are the captain-you cannot abandon the ship or he hesitant. Also, you may need to be at the firm while all the others will be on holiday. It is not their company, it is yours. And that is something you should never forget. The others work for you but you work for the company and for yourself too. Hence, being for instance the CEO in a company may be glamorous at times, but involves hundreds of responsibilities as well.
LET A RELATIVE RUN IT
If you feel deep inside that you are going to mess it all up, then you might as well avoid running your own business. You might be the one who has invested most of the capital and you will be asked about each and every major step to make or serious difficulty to be overcome, but you should allow your brother or your father for example to do the math and decide on the payments. Neither do you need to be the chore boy and just pay the bills all day long. If you are not strict enough and judging or scolding others is not your cup of tea, you do not seem to be the ideal sort of person to be in charge. There is nothing wrong with that. Don’t blame yourself for the content of your character. You could alternatively have a post at the designing department of the company or at the quality inspection. At the end of the day, what is most vital is to produce excellent products and top services.
